Ha...Ha...Ha...Halloween

Oct 26, 04:55 AM

Greetings from what seems to be the only swine-flu-free neighborhood in a wide area. We’ve gratefully been untouched and uncontaminated. May it stay so.

Upcoming Events: Thursday, October 29, 4 to 7pm, for the Liz Grant Designs jewelry show. Some of the jewelry Liz will be showcasing include her Riverstone Collection; her Vintage Collection – including pieces with rare Japanese cotton pearls, and pieces with German and Czech crystals; and some special Halloween earrings. All of Liz’s work will be 10% off during the show. We will be drawing for a Paisley Gem necklace ($200 value) and some distinctive earrings. We will also have drawings for some Halloween surprises. Please join us.

Mary has graciously shared her recipe for the Orange/Basil Cookies that we served last Monday at the Linen Show. Here ‘tis:
Orange Basil Cookies
Cream together:
1/2 butter
8oz cream cheese
1 egg yolk
1 T orange juice
Add:
1 heaping T grated orange peel
2 T dried basil
1 box yellow cake mix
1 T orange extract
1/2 cup currants
1 cup chopped walnuts
Mix well and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Bake on greased or parchment paper on cookie sheets at 350* for 10 minutes.
Let set on cookie sheet for 1 minute before removing to rack to cool.
Makes about 5 dozen using small cookie scoop.

So easy. Soooo good. Thanks Mary.
Many thanks to Jerry of Wineopolis for the 2008 Domaine de la Mavette. That went nicely with the chocolate and Mary’s cookies.
Thanks to all who joined us for the fall linen show. We did indeed have fun.

Halloween decorations and toys and cards are 50% off this week.
That’s all for now. Stay dry, stay well.
