Please join us Saturday, November 7, from 11am to 3pm, for a show of Linda Herd’s jewelry.

Linda Herd combines her experiences living in New York and the natural beauty of Oregon to give her work a distinctive look. She finds inspiration in materials, environments, and lifestyles. It is her firm belief that jewelry should make a statement, not a suggestion. Her designs reflect that principle in their boldness of scale, texture, and color. Gemstones, pearls, crystals, glass, natural and found materials are used as accents for handmade fine silver beads crafted by the Karen Hill Tribe in Thailand. Recently, Herd has begun to design beads which are now being made by the Tribe. They have been creating hand made silver beads and jewelry for over 700 years. Silver jewelry is used in tribal ceremonies and to show social status. By bringing their work to a wider audience, these artisans can maintain tribal traditions and earn a fair and living wage. Developing new skills in the art of creating jewelry is the next step for Herd, who is never satisfied staying at the same level of accomplishment. Wire work, forging, and fusing fine silver have been added to her repertoire to create new and exciting designs.
